Washington had a major opportunity to kick a field goal for the win against New York. However, Daniels failed to take into the account the running game clock as it expired. This resulted in Washington missing its best chance of getting out of the game with the win.

Daniels spoke with Washington media on Thursday, per reporters Nicki Jhabvala and John Keim. He refused to blame his coaches, taking full accountability for what he did wrong in the last contest.

“It was ultimately on me, so I said my two cents and said it’ll never happen again and move forward from that,” Daniels said.

“Don’t even put it on the coaches. I have to be more aware out there and manage the game right. I did not do that. No matter what happens on the sidelines, I’ve got to know everything happening and make sure we’re in the right situation to win the game.”

What lies ahead for Jayden Daniels, Commanders

Jayden Daniels is more than capable of performing well, having led Washington to the NFC Championship Game as a rookie. Despite the regression and the injuries, Daniels can still rebound and assist the Commanders in getting back on track.

Washington has a 1-3-1 record this season, sitting at fourth place in the NFC East Division standings. They are above the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles at the moment. In terms of the conference standings, they sit at 13th place. They lead over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints while being behind the Cowboys and the Eagles.

The Commanders will continue preparations for their next matchup, being on the road. They take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6 as kickoff commences on Oct. 19 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
