Shannon Sharpe hammers ‘dirty’ San Francisco 49ers player for injuring his opponent

The San Francisco 49ers secured themselves at least another week with their unbeaten status following their victory over the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.
Kyle Shanahan’s team are now 6-0 through the opening six weeks of the season but their win on Monday did not come without criticism. It was by no means a flawless performance from the Niners as they had to battle a late comeback from the Commanders.

There was also a moment of controversy during the game in Santa Clara that saw Niners rookie defensive lineman Gracen Halton heavily criticised online for a dirty play. Halton dove into the left knee of Commanders offensive lineman Sam Cosmi which saw him ruled out of the game.
With the ball nowhere near Cosmi’s vicinity, this play from Halton has been labelled as dirty and Shannon Sharpe has led the online frustrations.

The Niners did secure the victory in the end but it has come slightly tarnished for some given the manner in which some of their players conducted themselves at Levi’s Stadium. Halton has come under a lot of criticism for his actions that ended Cosmi’s game.
“Dirty A** play by 93 of the 49ers. That’s bush league. Could really injure that man,” said Sharpe on X.
The referees did throw a flag down on the play and penalised Halton for a low block which meant a half-the-distance-to-the-goal ruling. However, Cosmi was unable to return to the game which was a real blow for the Commanders.
Cosmi headed straight into the blue tent and did not play again on the night. Sharpe’s frustrations will have been shared by fans across the nation given Halton was never going to make a play on the running back with possession of the ball.
Commanders fans will now be hoping the injury is nothing serious for Cosmi.
