Rodgers entered the game tied with Manning at 539 regular-season touchdown passes and needed just one more score to move into sole possession of third place. He delivered that milestone when he connected with Darnell Washington for his 540th career regular-season touchdown pass.

The milestone came during the second quarter of the Steelers-Saints matchup, giving Rodgers sole possession of third place in a statistical category that features some of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.

Rodgers entered the season knowing he was closing in on Manning’s mark, and the 42-year-old quarterback reached the milestone on an international stage. The Steelers and Saints are playing the NFL’s first game in Paris, making the accomplishment even more memorable for one of the league’s most accomplished quarterbacks.

Manning finished his regular-season career with 539 touchdown passes over 17 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. Rodgers has now moved ahead of him after spending 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers before brief stops with the New York Jets and Steelers.

Rodgers had already tied Manning at 539 during Pittsburgh’s overtime victory over Tampa Bay in Week 6. He entered Sunday’s game needing only one touchdown to break the tie.

Rodgers now chases Drew Brees

With Manning behind him, Rodgers now sits third on the regular-season leaderboard, trailing only Drew Brees and Tom Brady.

Brees finished his career with 571 regular-season touchdown passes, while Brady holds the NFL record with 649. Rodgers therefore needs 32 more touchdown passes to catch Brees, although he has already announced that the 2026 season will be his final NFL campaign.

The milestone is another remarkable addition to Rodgers’ résumé. The four-time MVP entered the 2026 season already ranked among the NFL’s all-time leaders in passing yards, completions and touchdown passes.

Rodgers’ climb up the touchdown leaderboard has also been particularly impressive considering how long Manning’s record appeared secure. Manning retired after the 2015 season, and Rodgers has continued adding to his total more than a decade later.

Now, with 540 regular-season touchdown passes, Rodgers has officially moved past Manning and into third place in NFL history — a fitting milestone for a quarterback playing in one of the most unusual settings of his career.
