Kawhi Leonard was in and out of the headlines during the offseason due to his role in the Los Angeles Clippers’ controversy with Aspiration.
The NBA found the Clippers guilty of circumventing the salary cap to pay Leonard extra money through Aspiration, where he was supposed to plant trees as part of the company’s deal.
Fast forward to now, and Leonard has been traded to the Toronto Raptors, but one NBA fan isn’t allowing the Klaw to forget the controversy.
Kawhi Leonard says he ‘always’ plants trees
During the Raptors’ recent game against the Washington Wizards, Leonard was confronted by an NBA fan as he was about to check into the game.
The fan asked, obviously taking a jibe at Leonard’s role in the Aspiration controversy: “Aye, Kawhi, plant any trees lately?”
In the most Leonard-like way possible, the Raptors responded: “Always.”
Leonard, rejoining the Raptors after his controversial stint with the Clippers, was supposed to get away from the controversy.
But NBA fans do not seem to care about that, as they have found a new way to poke fun at the Raptors star.
For what it’s worth, Leonard’s new chapter has started on a positive note as the Raptors have started the new season with a perfect 2-0 record.
