Milwaukee Brewers captain Christian Yelich was gushing after the championship-clinching Game 5 of the World Series.

In an interview at Tropicana Field after the Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 to win the team’s first title, Yelich sent an emotional message to the people of Milwaukee.

“We’re coming home baby, we can’t wait to see you, we can’t wait to celebrate,” Yelich told Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal. “The support’s meant everything to us this year. You were incredibly loud in the playoffs. I mean, it’s almost a home game here for us in a World Series game, which is insane.

“So we can’t wait to get back there, we can’t wait to celebrate, and enjoy this.”

Yelich also reflected on the impact of Bob Uecker, the longtime Brewers broadcaster who died in January 2025.

“He’s smiling,” Yelich said, smiling. “I really wish he could’ve seen this. It would’ve meant everything to him. I miss him a bunch. He’s been with us a lot. We keep him close to our hearts. This is still for Bob, still for Ueck. I love you man. We did it.”

Yelich collected four hits, including a triple, and four walks in the five World Series games for the Brewers.

As the Brewers’ longest-tenured hitter, Yelich has seen the team fall short of the World Series twice — in 2018 and 2025, each time losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.

This year, Milwaukee swept the Dodgers in a four-game NLCS as part of a dominant 11-2 postseason.

A championship parade 56 years in the making will be the cherry on top of the cake.
