Eintracht Frankfurt restructure sporting department after Krösche's exit

Following Markus Krösche’s departure as board member for sport earlier this month, Eintracht Frankfurt have reshuffled responsibilities within their sporting department.
With the club yet to appoint Krösche’s successor, sporting director Timmu Hardung will assume increased responsibility and work closely with CEO Axel Hellmann to improve efficiency across the department and oversee preparations for the winter transfer window.

As a result, Hardung will put his day-to-day duties involving the squad and coaching staff on hold. Former Eintracht player Sebastian Rode, who is currently completing a trainee programme at the club, will take on greater responsibility within the first-team setup.
“In this current period until the appointment of a new board member for sport, we want to consolidate responsibilities and improve the efficiency of work across the various departments," said club CEO Axel Hellmann.
"Timmo Hardung has been tasked, until further notice, with leading all sporting operations in men’s football. The expansion of his responsibilities means that the focus of his work must shift from the team to strategic and organisational matters. Timmo Hardung will therefore, in close consultation with myself, focus more heavily on processes and structures.
"At the same time, we want to provide the best possible support for day-to-day work within the immediate team environment. As a highly respected former player, Sebastian Rode brings valuable qualities to this role through his experience, his personality and his close ties to Eintracht. As part of his trainee programme, he can contribute this perspective while also gaining further experience within the sporting organisation.”
Joti Chatzialexiou, sporting managing director at 1. FC Nürnberg, has emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Krösche, with Sky reporting that Eintracht have reached an agreement with him on personal terms.
Should Eintracht Frankfurt’s supervisory board approve Chatzialexiou’s appointment, the club would then need to open negotiations with Nürnberg.
