For the fourth straight year, Longhorns star Madison Booker is in the running for a national award. On Wednesday, Booker was named to the 20-player watch list for the 2027 Cheryl Miller Award. Named after three-time Naismith Player of the Year and Class of 1995 Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller, the award is given annually to the best small forward in women's college basketball.

In her career, Booker won the award in  2024, 2025, and 2026. The Longhorns veteran is one of two players to take home the honor; the other is Ashley Joens, who played at Iowa State.

Entering the 2026-2027 campaign, Booker ranks fifth on the program's scoring list with 1,969 points. With 31 more, she will be the fourth player in Longhorns history to reach that mark. She has also been a force on the boards with 699 rebounds and chaos on defense with 199 steals.

As Booker continued to be a model of excellence last season, she was lethal with the ball in her hands. The Texas native shot over 50 percent from the field last season and has a career field goal percentage of 47.8 percent. When the Longhorns have faced tough competition, Booker has thrived, helping Texas go 41-1o against ranked teams in her collegiate career.

While the Longhorns fell short of a national title last season, they have a roster full of talent. With Booker leading the way, they are once again expected to be one of the best in the nation. They have been ranked in the top ten in multiple preseason polls.

Now the focus for Booker will be to build on her success and try to help the Longhorns win a national title before moving on to the next step of her basketball journey.
