Grayson Allen and Tyrese Maxey battle as the Hornets fall to the 76ers
· Yahoo Sports
After suffering their second consecutive defeat Friday night, the Charlotte Hornets were eager to get back in the win column Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers. Still, the trio of Coby White, Kon Knueppel and Grant Williams were sidelined due to injury. For Philadelphia, LeBron James and Joel Embiid were rested, leaving the 76ers thin in the frontcourt.
However, that didn't stop them from earning a victory, as Tyrese Maxey put forth a 38-point effort to give the 76ers an edge 109-105. VJ Edgecombe only scored 10 points, but his clutch 3-pointer late in the fourth put things out of reach for the home team. As usual, Charlotte leaned heavily on Brandon Miller, who tallied 24 points on 8-for-20 shooting to go along with five rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block. Grayson Allen turned in his best game in a Hornets jersey, posting 27 points off the bench on 9-for-12 shooting, including 7-for-10 from 3-point range.

Following the loss, Charlotte is now 3-4 to begin the year. They'll have Sunday off before hosting the Detroit Pistons Monday.
