Flavell, Tamilo step up in Hawaii’s season-opening loss to Oregon
· Yahoo Sports
Hawaii held its own with its best player on the court, but a lack of depth played a big part in Oregon’s 87-54 win over the Rainbow Wahine to open the season today at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.
UH sophomore Bailey Flavell scored a career-high 24 points and center Ritorya Tamilo added 14 points and set career-highs in rebounds (12) and blocks (seven).

Tamilo’s block total was one off the school record for a single game.
Mallory Meyer led four players in double figures with 16 points for the Ducks, who scored 36 points off of 23 Hawaii turnovers.
Oregon outscored Hawaii by 30 points in 12 minutes when Flavell was not on the floor. With her on the court, UH was only outscored by three in 28 minutes.
Flavell shot 7-for-11 from the field and was 9-for-12 from the free-throw line.
Liz Udeze had seven points and three rebounds off the bench and Taryn Bond had five points and two steals. Both players were making their UH debuts.
Hawaii will play again on Thursday against San Francisco at 10 a.m.
