‘I Want To Impose My Pace’ – Undefeated Magomed Magomedov Eyes Grand Arrival Against Lucas Gabriel At ONE Fight Night 49
· Yahoo Sports
Magomed “Muhammad” Magomedov has never known defeat in 15 professional fights. That perfection faces an immediate test in his promotional debut, as he meets Brazilian grappling ace Lucas Gabriel in the lightweight MMA main event of ONE Fight Night 49 on Prime Video.

The high-stakes headliner goes down on Friday, November 6, live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.

Magomedov fights like a man with nowhere else to be. A Master of Sport in MMA, the KHK Dagestan representative grinds opponents down until something gives, and his last five bouts have not heard the final bell.
Even so, it is a demanding first assignment. Gabriel boasts a pristine 5-0 record in ONE, a run that includes a submission of Gadzhimurad “Tought” Amirzhanov and statement decision wins over Magomed Akaev and former ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion Ok Rae Yoon. One more win could be all that separates the Brazilian from a World Title shot.
Adding to the challenge, Magomedov accepted the bout on roughly two weeks’ notice after former ONE World Title challenger Alibeg Rasulov withdrew with an injury.
A late call to headline might rattle most debutants. Magomedov, however, appears entirely unmoved. The lights may be brighter now, but the fighter beneath them has not changed.
The promotional newcomer told onefc.com:
“I am preparing for this fight just as seriously as I have prepared for my previous fights. Every fight is important to me, so I always try to give my maximum effort and enter the [ring] in the best possible shape.
“I prepare for different scenarios and want to be ready for anything that might happen inside the [ring].”

Make no mistake; danger lurks everywhere with Gabriel. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt hunts submissions from every position, and an underrated striking arsenal gives him license to take risks on the mat that few opponents can punish.
Magomedov, though, believes he has already found the cracks.
“Muhammad” said:
“As far as I understand, my opponent has a good Muay Thai background, but he can also wrestle. I believe my main advantages could be constant pressure and wrestling.
“I want to impose my pace on him, control the fight, and use my strengths.”

Magomedov Brings His Dagestani Foundation Into The Spotlight
Magomed Magomedov did not get here alone. Based in Makhachkala, he has sharpened his craft inside the KHK Dagestan camp, the team that shaped him from a raw prospect into an unbeaten contender.
His family’s backing has been just as vital. But on the biggest night of his career, Magomedov intends to lean on the familiar faces who know him best.
He said:
“The final lineup of my corner team has not yet been decided. Most likely, representatives of my KHK Dagestan team will be with me.”

What happens in Bangkok could ripple straight to the top of the division. Less than 24 hours before Magomedov makes his walk, two-division MMA World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee defends his ONE lightweight MMA crown against reigning ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion Tye Ruotolo at The Inner Circle 37.
Fittingly, Lee’s most recent title defense came against Rasulov, the very man Magomedov replaced. By toppling the surging Gabriel, the newcomer would not only snatch the Brazilian’s momentum but could leapfrog the entire queue and land squarely in the title picture.
Magomedov said:
“I expect a competitive fight and am ready for any scenario. My goal is to apply constant pressure, use my wrestling, and control the fight.
“I am stepping into the [ring] to win, and I will do everything possible to achieve the result I want.”
