What a lovely evening.

Despite the odd start with special teams blunders, I think most would agree this was the most complete performance of the season thus far.

This team has had similar blow out wins against FSU and Stanford, but in those games it took a minute for the team to hit the gas a turn away. But in this one it never felt like Georgia Tech was in the game.

After scoring on the first drive, the defense had to force multiple 3-and-outs to start their game before they finally conceded 3 points thanks to the special teams. Brohm looked as equally as frustrated as the rest of us, but it didn’t last long as the offense looked unstoppable and the defense looked….good?

The game in its entirety was as close to perfect as fans have been hoping for all season, and for it to come in November when there’s still 3 very important games ahead could not be better timing.

Lincoln looked in control all game as he finished 17/25 for 182 yds and 2 TDs, to go along with his 81 yards on the ground. Treyshun Hurry did a fantastic job filling in for the injured McCoy as he reeled in 8 receptions for 104 yards and a TD. The Brown Bros. rushed for a modest combined total of 92 yards on just 16 carries against one of, if not the worst rushing defenses in the conference. But it didn’t matter as the offense got pretty much whatever they wanted.

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention this gorgeous jet sweep to Tre Richardson for a 52-yard TD, his second of the night.

Meanwhile on the defense they made life hell for whoever was playing QB tonight. Tech couldn’t seem to figure out what would work between Mendoza and Adamson, and it wasn’t much of anything between the two.

The defense held Ga. Tech to an outstanding 4 of 17 on 3rd down, and 5.4 yards per pass and just 3.4 yards per rush. But the biggest numbers of the night came from the defensive front as they had 4 sacks, 7 TFLs, and 5 batted balls. It seemed like even when the commitee of QBs got time to throw, there was either pressure coming and/or hands blocking throwing lanes.

It was a fantastic effort from the defense and one that I think we all hope the team can build on as they entire the final quarter of the season with a lot left on the table.

It’s not often you get to kick your feet up and watch your team trounce a conference foe while other certain teams are getting blown out. So enjoy nights like tonight. We’ve all earned this one.
