New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles Player of the Game: Arvell Reese

· Yahoo Sports

The New York Giants needed their defense to deliver in Sunday's divisional matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, and rookie linebacker Arvell Reese answered the call.

Reese was the clear standout in New York's 19-11 victory at Lincoln Financial Field, delivering one of the most impactful performances of his young NFL career. The first-round pick consistently disrupted Philadelphia's offense, finishing with 12 tackles (10 solo), three sacks, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

His biggest play came in the second quarter, when he blitzed Joe Milton and delivered a crushing hit that knocked the ball loose. Linebacker Micah McFadden recovered the fumble, giving the Giants possession and preventing Philadelphia from building on its early lead.]

Reese wasn't finished there. He recorded another sack before halftime, helping New York keep the Eagles' offense in check. He then added his third sack in the fourth quarter, putting additional pressure on Milton as Philadelphia attempted to mount a comeback.

Philadelphia managed just 11 points, and Reese played a significant role in making life uncomfortable for Milton throughout the afternoon. His combination of speed, physicality, and pass-rushing ability gave the Eagles problems from the opening half through the final quarter.

The Giants have been searching for difference-makers on defense, and Reese is quickly establishing himself as one.

A three-sack performance against a division rival, highlighted by a momentum-changing forced fumble, makes this an easy decision.
