Third baseman Nelly McEnroe-Marinas suffered a torn ACL during OU’s game against Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the 2026 season, Gasso announced.
McEnroe-Marinas exited the 9-1 drubbing in the top of the third inning and never returned.
The redshirt sophomore collided with catcher Kendall Wells trying to catch a ball. Wells recorded the out, but McEnroe-Marinas was down and visibly in pain.
Sydney Barker replaced McEnroe-Marinas in the lineup and hit a two-run home run to help the Sooners cruise past the Lions. Barker also started at third base in Tuesday’s game at North Texas.
McEnroe-Marinas, from Waianae, Hawaii, had been one of the Sooners’ most productive bats through the early part of the season. She started 16 of OU’s first 19 games, hitting .492 with three home runs and 16 RBIs.
Even with the injury ending her season, McEnroe-Marinas will remain with the program and continue serving as a presence in the dugout for the rest of the year.
Across 80 career games with OU, McEnroe-Marinas has built a .360 average (82 for 228) with 18 home runs and 64 RBIs. Last season, she earned first-team All-SEC honors and was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Freshman of the Year Top 24 list.
OU hosts the Okana Invitational this weekend in Norman. The Sooners are scheduled to face Louisiana and Abilene Christian once each on both Saturday and Sunday.
