Relatively boring one for the first half of the game. Cantillo’s only run of the day came on a Salvador Perez sac fly in the 3rd.

Guardians left quite a few runners on base in the first four innings, but had runners on second and third after a Hedges single and Halpin walk (and then a double steal) with DeLauter up. He drove in the first two Guardians runs of the day on a groundball through the left side.

In the 8th, Jose walked (and then stole second). Manzardo moved him over to 3rd with a flyout to deep right-center and Fry drove him in with an RBI groundout (that Maikel Garcia mishandled, allowing Jose to score).

Vogt pulled Cantillo after the 5th. His final line: 5 IP 3 H 1 ER 1K 3 BB. Definitely a weird line, but 5 innings of 1-run ball is always a good performance. Only 70 pitches, too. Strange choice to pull him at that pitch count with Cecconi pitching tomorrow. Though, we’ve seen Vogt leave in Cecconi past the 2nd time through the order numerous times this year (which I vehemently disagree with, but still).

The Guardians ended this game in very fun fashion. Cade Smith had Isaac Collins 2-2 with 2 outs in the 9th, and a close pitch was called a ball. Hedges challenged, and the call was overturned. Game over!

The Guardians will look to wholly salvage the series with a split tomorrow. It’ll be Cecconi vs. Lugo.
