Golden State Warriors 2025-26 player grades: Jimmy Butler

· Yahoo Sports

After a midseason trade that sent Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat to the Warriors last year, Butler entered the 2025-26 season ready for his first full year with Golden State. As usual, the 15-year journeyman stuffed the stat sheet, adding another hustler to head coach Steve Kerr's rotation.

Unfortunately for Butler and the Warriors, the former six-time All-Star tore his ACL in January, causing him to miss the remainder of the season. In 38 total games Butler tallied 20 points per game, 5.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.4 steals. Butler had also been shooting the ball well, on pace for the second-highest field goal percentage (51.9%) and the third-highest 3-point percentage (37.6%) of his career. Considering his defensive activity and increased efficiency, Butler put together a solid showing at age 36. Butler has one more year remaining on his contract, reaching free agency once more ahead of the 2027-28 season. However, considering Butler's expiring contract and the fact that he'll miss a large chunk of next season (if not the whole year), Golden State would be wise to package the veteran in a trade.
