2026 World Cup, Day 14: Final games in Groups A, B, C
· Yahoo Sports
It’s turned into a World Cup defined by the biggest stars: Messi, Mbappé, Haaland.
Cristiano Ronaldo joined that party yesterday, on Day 13, grabbing a brace (and an assist in spirit) in Portugal’s 5-0 win over hapless Uzbekistan. England’s big star on the other hand, Harry Kane, failed to fire, as the Three Lions trudged to a scoreless draw against Ghana. Croatia and Colombia collected matching 1-0 wins later, in what turned out to be one of the more low-key days of the tournament.

Perhaps we just needed that tiny break in the excitement, because now, as we enter the third week, we’re set for the final games of the group stage. This means we have a whopping six (6!) games to choose from (with three sets of two games kicking off to finalize standings in Groups A, B, and C).
GROUP B
It’s all to play for in Group B, with Canada and Switzerland coming in on four points each, and playing each other, and Bosnia and Qatar both sitting on one. Any point for the Swiss of the Canadians would guarantee a top two finish, though a draw would put Canada top of the group. Bosnia and Qatar need a win to get at least third and have a chance at the Round of 32.
Canada have looked good in both their games (though had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Bosnia) while the Swiss were much improved in their second outing even if they left all the scoring in that 4-0 until the final 15 minutes. Canada would certainly want the top stop as they then could stay in Canada for the Round of 32 and potentially the Round of 16 game as well.

GROUP C
Things are not quite as open in Group C with Haiti already eliminated. Brazil and Morocco both have three points but Brazil have the tiebreaker at the moment with a goal differential that’s two better. But Morocco are playing Haiti while Brazil have to take on Scotland, who will want at least another point to have a good chance of being one of the better third-place finishers. They have three points coming in.
That said, none of these three teams have impressed all that much, and it’s been a grind in particular for Brazil. It’s far from guaranteed that this group turns out how most would expect it to turn out.

GROUP A
Mexico are already guaranteed to win the group so they can relax and play for fun. That could potentially open the door for the Czechs to pull off a shock. They come in with just one point and need a win to stay alive. Same goes for South Africa. South Korea are currently second on three points and need just a point to stay there and advance.
