Just under 10 hours after four-star defensive tackle Ben'Jarvius Shumaker announced he was flipping his commitment from Ole Miss to Colorado, he's done it again. Shumaker announced on Tuesday evening that he was flipping back to Ole Miss and declared he was closing his recruiting for good, which he had just done the other day before committing to CU.
Shumaker is the pride of Choctaw County football, recording 113 tackles and 8.5 sacks in his junior year.
"I apologize for any confusion that may have come over the last several hours," Shumaker said in a statement he posted to X. "This process has reaffirmed for me that Ole Miss is where I am meant to be."
I apologize for any confusion that may have come over the last several hours. This process has reaffirmed for me that Ole Miss is where I am meant to be. The flip is a massive hit to Colorado's 2027 recruiting class, which vaulted to No. 3 in the Big 12 Conference per Rivals after previously landing him. The Buffs missed out on four-star defensive lineman Tyler Alexander earlier on Tuesday, making this one sting all the more.
Colorado's coaching staff now will need to head back to work to replace what would have been a headlining talent in the class.
