Scrappers celebrate 4th of July with win over Black Bears

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning Valley Scrappers defeated the West Virginia Black Bears, 9-6, at 7 17 Credit Union Field at Eastwood on Saturday night.
Josue Malave came through with a pinch hit two-run single in the 8th to break a 6-6 tie and give the Scrappers the lead for good.

Also for the Scrappers, Josiah Seguin went 2-for-4 with a run batted in while Eli Putnam also added a 2-for-5 day with 3 RBI.
On the mound, Ethan Stade struck out 9 batters across 5 innings while allowing 2 runs. His earned run average now sits at just 1.23 across 14.2 innings.
With the win, the Scrappers improve to 13-16 on the season. Next, they will host West Virginia again on Sunday, July 5 at 2:05 p.m. to wrap up the series.
