Just when you thought there was nothing new on the Brandon Aiyuk “feud”. Don’t worry, there’s good news today as well.

The soon-to-be-former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver went to social media again. This time indicating the NFLPA was going to “start a smear campaign” to hurt Aiyuk’s brand:

It might not be shown in the X post linked above, but at the bottom of that image is a response (presumably from Aiyuk) that says, “True story.”
Like we always do, let’s give this a once-over. Aiyuk is indicating the NFLPA (or perhaps the 49ers?) were going to start a smear campaign and tarnish his name, image, and likeness. Thing is, there’s nothing out of the ordinary that has been reported from the 49ers or the NFLPA to defame his character.
The 49ers said Aiyuk stopped communicating, and he wouldn’t be on the team. That is the extent of their responses. The NFLPA, for its part, hasn’t said anything. The only person active in this smear campaign against Aiyuk has been Aiyuk himself, because it’s near-unanimously agreed that, whether right or wrong, his activity on social media has been a bad look.
But we aren’t done with the NFLPA. Aiyuk decided to throw another jab at his soon-to-be-former head coach.
This isn’t the first time Aiyuk has called out the NFLPA. The last time he gave his undivided internet attention to them was in late June.

For those of you unaware, the NFLPA is basically the union for the players. They are the players’ advocates against the league and on other matters. Even if an airtight case is made and a player is suspended, the NFLPA fights to lower that suspension and makes hell for everyone involved.
And Aiyuk is now casting shade towards that group. Sure, their effectiveness may be in the eyes of the beholder, but in this story of guarantees being voided and contracts being tabled, these might have been the only friends he had. His agent isn’t around because Aiyuk announced he fired them (though it’s not official).
But again, the 49ers have no incentive to release Aiyuk until absolutely needed. Aiyuk has already made Stefon Diggs look like a better option in Washington (or elsewhere) for free agency.
I want to say it can’t get much more insane than this, but I’m not sure whether we’re at the start of the rabbit hole of ridiculousness or right in the middle of it. I do know we aren’t at the end, nowhere close.
However, I do have good news. The rookies have reported to training camp.
