This game was close throughout, as the Lakers had lots of trouble hitting from the perimeter. They went just 6-of-27 from 3-point range, and they fell behind in the fourth quarter by as many as seven points.
After they were down 87-81 with two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Lakers made a final run. They were able to draw fouls, including a flagrant 1 foul that was committed against Arthur Kaluma, but they left points on the board at the free throw line. With L.A. down 89-86 and nine seconds left, guard Chris Mañon was fouled while attempting a 3-pointer. But he made just one of the resulting three free throws, allowing Golden State to escape with a 92-88 win.
Mañon continued to display his brand of tenacious defense and finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block, although he was 3-of-9 from the field. Rookie guard Cameron Carr got off to a slow start and shot 1-of-5 in the first quarter, and while his shooting improved somewhat afterward, he never really found the range. He finished with 17 points but was 5-of-16 overall and 1-of-8 from 3-point range.
Second-year forward Adou Thiero posted 18 points and made all six of his shot attempts while grabbing 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals and playing some stretches of impressive defense. He also threw down a couple of highlight dunks off alley-oop passes, and he even hit a 3-pointer.
