After Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday, July 19, Yamal’s 3-year-old half-brother, Keyne, ran across the field at New York New Jersey Stadium and jumped into the 19-year-old soccer star’s arms.
Video shared by FOX Sports showed him clapping as he approached before Yamal lifted him and held him in a long embrace. The brothers had shared a similar postgame reunion after Spain’s semifinal victory over France five days earlier.
Keyne Carried a Piece of the Goal Net to Yamal
His attention eventually returned to his older brother. Keyne ran toward Yamal while clutching part of the net, and the Barcelona forward smiled before picking him up.
People reported that the footage was recorded after the trophy match at the stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The reunion unfolded amid the medal ceremony and Spain’s wider celebration across the field.
The Brothers Reunited After the Semifinal Too
Keyne had already found Yamal following Spain’s 2-0 semifinal victory over France at Dallas Stadium on July 14. Video from that night showed the toddler moving through the stands with his arms extended toward his brother.
Yamal picked him up, hugged him and carried him through the crowd as supporters congratulated Spain’s players. FOX Sports published the brief postgame clip after the match.
Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro scored against France to send Spain to its first World Cup final since 2010. Yamal had turned 19 one day before the semifinal.
Ferran Torres Scored the Extra-Time Winner
Spain and Argentina remained scoreless through regulation in the final. Substitute Ferran Torres broke the deadlock in the 106th minute, beating goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to give Spain the lead.
Argentina could not equalize, and Spain completed a 1-0 victory to become world champion for the second time. Its previous title came in 2010, when Andrés Iniesta scored the extra-time winner against the Netherlands.
FIFA’s match report credited Torres with the championship-winning goal as Spain reclaimed the trophy from the defending champions.
Keyne Became One of Spain’s Most Recognizable Supporters
Keyne is one of Yamal’s two younger half-siblings and shares his mother, Sheila Ebana. He was born in September 2022 and had appeared with Yamal before the World Cup, including during Spain’s 2024 European Championship celebration and at the Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Yamal told reporters that seeing his mother, brother and friends enjoying Spain’s run carried special meaning for him. “My little brother means everything to me,” he said, according to The Guardian. “I am in love with him; it feels like he is my son.”
