Son of Randy Bennett's rival to coach for ASU basketball this season
· Yahoo Sports
Arizona State basketball head coach Randy Bennett is set to have a surprising face on his coaching staff for the 2026-27 season.
That would be Joe Few, a player who Bennett coached against from the 2021-22 season through the 2024-25 season, when Few played for Gonzaga and Bennett was the head coach at Saint Mary's. Perhaps even more notably, Few is the son of Bennett's longtime coaching rival, Gonzaga all-time great head coach Mark Few.

Joe Few is listed on the ASU men's basketball web page.
Bennett was a head coach at Saint Mary's every year since the 2001-02 season. Mark Few was the head coach for the Zags since the 1999-2000 season. Hence, they overlapped in the West Coast Conference during the past 25 seasons.
During those seasons, Saint Mary's was the only program in the WCC to ever beat out Gonzaga for an outright conference title. They did that three times, and they even shared the title with Gonzaga on four different occasions. The only other program to have a share of a WCC title at any point during that time was Pepperdine in the 2001-02 season, when they shared it with Gonzaga.
Gonzaga had a stronghold on the WCC tournament too, winning it 19 times in those 25 years. Saint Mary's did win four of the other six, though, as the clear top challenger to Gonzaga during the 25 seasons overall.
Joe Few will be a Graduate Assistant for Bennett, as Bennett embarks on his first season with the Sun Devils. Joe Few has plenty of experience studying Bennett's teams in preparation to play against them in his playing career, and likely plenty of experience studying them before and after that while his father prepared to coach against them.
With exhibition games for ASU beginning Oct. 12, the two may not have much time to trash talk this offseason before they finally step into the arena on the same side.
