Mets name Sunday lineup vs Marlins in final game before trade deadline

· Yahoo Sports

NEW YORK — For several members of the Mets, Sunday will be their last contest with the team.

With the Mets sitting at 47-65, an off day slated for Monday and the trade deadline looming at 6 p.m. that day, the club's final game as currently constituted comes at 1:40 p.m. against the Marlins at Citi Field.

The Mets have only made one move so far, trading A.J. Minter to the Twins for a pair of infield prospects, but Freddy Peralta was held out of his start on Friday and Clay Holmes said on Saturday that he is expected to be traded. Brooks Raley and Tyrone Taylor are among the other Mets who have had to grapple with their fate in recent days.

In Mets interim manager Andy Green's view, that looming uncertainty cannot cloud what is in front of his team on Sunday.

Beyond that, the Mets could look vastly different when they head out for a nine-game road trip beginning on Tuesday against the Guardians in Cleveland.

NY Mets, Marlins probable starting pitchers for Sunday

The Mets will turn to Robert Stock to make his season debut on Sunday, with the club's rotation in flux.

Stock has not started a game since 2021 and last appeared in a major league game in relief last season with Boston. After surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome during spring training, Stock posted a 2.91 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 21⅔ innings in eight minor league games.

The Marlins will have their ace on the mound in Sandy Alcantara, who carries an 11-6 record and 3.82 ERA into his 24th start of the season. Alcantara held the Phillies scoreless across seven innings with five strikeouts, scattering four hits and one walk last time out.
