Packers Family Night: Which player are you most excited to watch?

· Yahoo Sports

Family Night for the Green Bay Packers is here. Come 7:30 p.m. on Friday night, Matt LaFleur's team will be on the grass inside Lambeau Field and going through a full practice in front of tens of thousands of fans in Green Bay. Everyone from LaFleur to Brian Gutekunst strongly believes in the value of having the players under the lights of Lambeau Field, even for a practice, suggesting the feel is more like a preseason game -- providing an important evaluation checkpoint early in training camp.

So, which player are you most excited to watch at Lambeau Field on Friday night?

Our picks from the staff at Packers Wire:

Zach Kruse: Edge rusher Barryn Sorrell

While tempted to pick Jordan Morgan and his debut as the starting left tackle, I'm going with Sorrell, who is in the running for one of the most important jobs on the football team to start 2026: fill-in starter at edge rusher while Micah Parsons is out. Sorrell was a standout at Tuesday's practice, and I'm interested to see if he can keep building momentum at Family Night. The second-year edge rusher worked with Parsons during the summer and is positioned to take the second-year leap while simultaneously seizing an important opportunity. So often, improvement from returning young players powers the overall improvement of a team. Sorrell is one of the young players in the spotlight this summer.

Brandon Carwile: K Trey Smack

I don’t know if the right word is excited or concerned, but I am definitely going to be intently watching how Smack performs on Family Night. So far, the rookie kicker is 8-for-13 with multiple misses from under 40 yards. As Brian Gutekunst has now said twice, he is going to try to be patient with Smack, but at the end of the day, the Packers need a kicker they can count on, which hasn’t been easy since Mason Crosby left. Right now, Smack is struggling in front of what should be nonintimidating training camp crowds, so how’s he going to perform with 60,000-plus packed into Lambeau Field? Consider me intrigued to find out.

Mark Oldacres: RB MarShawn Lloyd

The explosive plays Lloyd has consistently produced during the rare times he's been able to practice have become the stuff of legend. Anyone who has laid eyes on him at the practice field speaks to his eye-opening burst, but Packers fans haven’t ever really seen it, due to the variety of injuries which have kept him out of regular and even pre-season games in his first two seasons. Lloyd has been healthy so far in camp and with Josh Jacobs now managing a groin issue, Lloyd is likely to be RB1 at Family Night, finally giving him the opportunity to strut his stuff in front of the Lambeau Field crowd.

Brennen Rupp: CB Brandon Cisse

The rookie cornerback has had a solid start to training camp. Can he continue to carry that momentum over tonight under the bright lights of Lambeau Field? He is getting reps with the No. 1 defense and if he continues to play well, he’ll make it difficult for the coaching staff to remove him from the starting lineup. The Packers may not have had a first-round pick but Brian Gutekunst may have struck oil if Cisse continues to play at a high level when the stakes get raised.
