Bafana Bafana news: SAFA doubles Mosimane’s salary offer

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has reportedly doubled Pitso Mosimane‘s salary offer for him to take over as Bafana Bafana coach.

As reported on The South African earlier this morning, SAFA had offered Mosimane a R5 million-a-year salary.
However, the 61-year-old rejected the offer despite being a strong favourite to take over from the retired Hugo Broos.

Broos was earning around R1.4 million per year, and he was given a R21 million handshake following Bafana Bafana’s return from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Under Broos, Bafana Bafana reached the knockout stages for the first time in their history.
Now, Mosimane, set to return for his second stint as Bafana Bafana coach, was on a R1.5 million-month-salary at Mamelodi Sundowns.
But that was prior to his controversial to Al Ahly in 2020, and being offered a R5 million-a-year salary is somehow an insult to him.

BAFANA BAFANA NEWS: SAFA DOUBLES MOSIMANE’S SALARY
“SABC Sport understands that the South African Football Association (SAFA) have doubled the initial package that was offered to Pitso Mosimane last week, following the SAFA National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at SAFA House on Saturday that approved the appointment of Mosimane to succeed Hugo Broos,” reports SABC Sport.
“As the SAFA Technical Committee led by Jack Maluleke had finalized their recommendation and identified Mosimane as their target to replace the former head coach, SAFA senior executives visited the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly head coach to work towards finalizing his deal.”
