Kentucky 2027 Class Breakdown: Will Stein has Cats aiming high in first cycle

Will Stein is not shy. The new Kentucky football head coach has big dreams and he feels they are quite attainable in Lexington. He’s yet to coach his first game inside Kroger Field, but he’s already turned plenty of heads on the recruiting trail.
Kentucky currently has the No. 24 class in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The pledge list already features 25 names, seven of whom have four stars ahead of their senior campaigns.

April was when commitments really began to roll in. Eight prospects chose the Wildcats that month, none bigger than Prospect Heights (Ill.) John Hersey four-star quarterback Jake Nawrot. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound passer is now the No. 5 QB in the nation. Nawrot reminds Rivals’ Scouting and Rankings Team of New England Patriots QB Drake Maye.
Rocky River (Ohio) four-star safety Tristin Hughes, Prattville (Ala.) four-star defensive lineman Elijah Brown and Rolesville (N.C.) three-star safety Marquis Bryant were among the other big commitments for UK in April. Hughes and Bryant were previously committed to Syracuse and North Carolina, respectively.
Like everyone else, the Cats also stacked some massive commits during official visit in June. Fort Mitchell (Ky.) Beechwood four-star wide receiver Tyler Fryman was a one-time Louisville baseball commit, but he flipped and now plans to be an impactful pass-catcher in Lexington. New Madison (Ohio) Tri-Village four-star interior offensive lineman Dominic Black and Indianapolis Warren Central four-star linebacker Sean Fox also pledged two months ago.
There are 13 commits on the defensive side of the ball in this UK class, leaving 12 on offense. There’s six in-state commits in the class, led by Fryman, the No. 4 recruit in the Bluegrass. Kentucky’s haul also ranks 10th in the SEC, as of Aug. 9. Below is a look at the Cats’ pledge list:
