ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter joined Monday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, where he spoke about the rookie passer following his sparkling performance in last week's Hall of Fame Game. And Schefter didn't exactly slow down the hype train on King . . .

King, an undrafted free-agent signee from the spring, took the bulk of snaps for Carolina under center in their 33-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals this past Thursday night. He turned that opportunity into 180 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and the game-winning 5-yard rushing touchdown as time expired.
While the hype hasn't slowed, King's work—unfortunately—has. The 25-year-old, per Panthers head coach Dave Canales, sustained a hamstring injury on that final dive into the end zone—and will be sidelined and evaluated on a week-to-week basis.
Carolina has since signed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-round pick Kyle Trask—giving them three healthy quarterbacks, alongside starter Bryce Young and backup Kenny Pickett, for the time being.
For King to make the team as a member of the initial 53-man roster, he'll have to force Canales and general manager Dan Morgan to keep three quarterbacks—something they did not do in their first two seasons at the helm.
