Among all of the injuries the Boston Red Sox have dealt with throughout the 2026 campaign, it looks like there might finally be a light at the end of the tunnel.

The Red Sox are hopeful to get Garrett Crochet, Trevor Story, and Roman Anthony back sometime in the near future.
There is also another player the Red Sox are counting on to eventually return, and that's none other than 2024 All-Star Tanner Houck.
Houck hasn’t thrown in Major League Baseball this season while he’s recovered from Tommy John surgery he had a season ago, but he faced hitters for the first time on Tuesday in Fort Myers, according to MLB.com. Speaking about the possibility of Houck returning this year, he remains in Boston's plans.
“Also, Tanner Houck faced hitters and remains in play to return this season,” Ian Browne wrote.
Considering he hasn't thrown in Major League Baseball in more than a year, there are some fair questions about how he'll look, but when Houck was healthy in 2024, he was just as good as anybody in the Red Sox rotation.
He finished with a 3.12 ERA and struck out 154 hitters in 178.2 innings. Whether he works out of the bullpen or as a starter, it would be great to get a guy back with his stuff. The right-hander is expected to come out of the bullpen, but perhaps he could be used as an opener.
