Some MLB hitters simply seem to travel well. While home-field advantage can make a difference for plenty of players, five American League hitters have been especially impressive away from home during the 2026 MLB season.
According to the MLB Network graphic, these five players have posted the best road batting averages in the American League.

Simpson leads the way

Simpson has been outstanding on the road, hitting .325 away from Tampa Bay. The young Rays outfielder has built his game around contact and speed, and his ability to consistently put the ball in play has made him one of the American League’s most difficult hitters to handle.
His road numbers are particularly impressive considering his overall profile. Simpson has continued to produce hits while also providing tremendous value on the bases. Current split data confirms just how much better he has been away from home.
2. Luke Keaschall, Minnesota Twins — .307
Keaschall checks in second at .307. The Twins infielder has been significantly better on the road, where his batting average, OBP and slugging percentage have all jumped compared with his home numbers. His road slash line sits at .307/.401/.425.
3. Randy Arozarena, Seattle Mariners — .302
Arozarena is the biggest established star on the list. The Mariners outfielder is hitting .302 on the road with an impressive .393 OBP and .504 slugging percentage. He’s also hit 11 of his 20 home runs away from home.

McGonigle has quietly been one of the better road hitters in the AL. He’s hitting .297 away from home while producing a .387 OBP and .480 SLG. His 11 road home runs are particularly impressive.
5. Pete Alonso, Baltimore Orioles — .297
Alonso rounds out the group at .297. The power-hitting first baseman has produced a .375 OBP and .525 SLG on the road, with 14 of his 30 home runs coming away from home.
What stands out about this group is the variety. Simpson and Keaschall are younger players establishing themselves, while Arozarena and Alonso are established stars. McGonigle falls somewhere in between as one of Detroit’s emerging offensive players.
