But there is another portion of any NBA fanbase that is maybe more casual during the dull days of the offseason and are in need of a Thunder summer summary. Sort of like when one of your Netflix shows comes back after a multiple year absence and you are in dire need of a recap to remember what the heck happened last season (here's looking at you, Stranger Things). Thunder Offseason Recap
Drafted Aday Mara at #12 overall in the 2026 NBA Draft. The Spanish big man helped lead the Michigan Wolverines to the NCAA Championship in March. Mara checks in at 7'3" and 260 pounds. Barefoot.
Drafted Bennett Stirtz at #16 overall in the 2026 NBA Draft. The 22 year old is considered one of the best shooters and processors in the draft class.
Drafted Otega Oweh at #41 in the 2026 NBA Draft. An athletic perimeter defender with some offensive upside, Oweh spent the first two years of his college career as an Oklahoma Sooner.
Signed Brooks Barnhizer, Otega Oweh and Josh Dix to two-way contracts. Branden Carlson signed a well deserved standard deal with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Traded Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks for 2 2nd Round Picks. The fan favorite who saved basketball heads to an Eastern Conference playoff team. After five years in OKC, Wiggins will join Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's cousin, Cason Wallace's brother and (spoiler alert) a certain former Thunder lockdown perimeter defender in Atlanta. O
Traded Isaiah Joe to the Detroit Pistons for 2 2nd Round Picks. The greatest sharpshooter in Thunder history will be a big help to a great Detroit team in desperate need of a 3 point sniper.
Traded Lu Dort to the Atlanta Hawks for 3 2nd Round Picks. Circle your calendars for November 18th. That's when the beloved Thunder folk hero known as the Dorture Chamber will return to OKC and be welcomed with the loudest "Luuuuuuuu!" ever heard.
Signed Spencer Jones to a restricted free agency offer sheet... but Denver matched. Those two days where every Thunder fan thought Jones was taking the 15th spot on the roster will never be forgotten.
Russell Westbrook announced his retirement from the NBA. While not technically Thunder news, this is the biggest Thunder news of the offseason.
