Caitlin Clark’s historic season with the Indiana Fever has left her former Iowa Hawkeyes coach Jan Jensen proud.

Jensen was an assistant coach under Clark’s Hawkeyes HC Lisa Bluder, taking on the role after Clark graduated in 2024. But Jensen was integral in recruiting Clark to the Hawkeyes in 2020. While they never won a title, it was an incredible partnership.
Clark became a superstar in college and instantly brought that same power to the WNBA, with her incredible 2026 season stats prompting the 57-year-old coach to compliment her former star.

Jensen posted a message for Clark on social media, highlighting how proud of the 24-year-old she is while praising her ability to always be the team’s ‘No. 1.’
“Pretty amazing to see how @CaitlinClark22 has been 1-of-1 in every stage of her career. Few can keep being ‘The 1’ but with Caitlin, it’s always been clear… She is in a league of her own!🐐So proud of you, Caitlin! Keep being remarkable! Love you!”
Putting the ‘The 1’ in quotations might be a reference to Clark’s new signature shoe releasing in the next week, but her on-court performances recently have warranted this reaction.

She just had back-to-back games with 30+ points and 10+ assists, dropping 37 points and 10 assists on Sunday against the Sky before dropping 34 points and 12 assists on Friday against the Sun.
Clark is also the first player in league history to have 800+ PTS & 300+ AST in a season, as well as the first to have 300+ AST and 100+ 3PM in a season.
Clark broke the NCAA’s all-time scoring record while under Coach Jensen, and now the coach is watching her former star athlete dominate in professional sports as well.
Clark is in the running to win the 2026 MVP award, with the Fever currently holding a 26-14 record with two games remaining, already having secured a spot in the postseason.
