As we inch towards November and the start of the college basketball season, it’s time for the various multi-team events to start pumping out their official schedules with dates and times and so on. We have two of those to address here, as we have Bahamas-related updates for both Marquette men’s and women’s basketball.

Visit moryak.biz for more information.

The first one is merely confirming the dates and times for Shaka Smart’s team in the Battle 4 Atlantis. We already knew that they would be playing Texas A&M and Virginia, it was merely a matter of in what order and precisely when.

Marquette will tangle with Ryan Odom’s Cavaliers at 11am Central on Wednesday, November 25th, and ESPN will have the broadcast. Their second game of B4A will be on Friday, November 27th tipping off at 4pm Central, and SEC Network will carry the game.

The second announcement is for Cara Consuegra’s club, and it fills in the blanks on the non-conference schedule that was announced back on August 21st. Nothing has changed on the dates of November 27th and November 29th, but now we have opponents for those dates. Marquette will face Illinois at 10am Central time on November 27th before squaring off against Belmont at 3pm Central time on November 29th.

For what it’s worth, this is a six-team event with everyone playing two games. That means that Iowa State and Saint Joseph’s will be in the Caribbean with the Golden Eagles, but they won’t cross paths on the basketball court.

I think it’s nice that these events don’t overlap for those of us who would like to watch both teams in action. Even better for those of you who would like to go to the Bahamas and watch all four games across the span of five days.

Illinois and Belmont are new to the schedule, so let’s do a little brief previewing:

Illinois Fighting Illini

2025-26 Record: 22-12, 9-9 Big Ten
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #31
All-Time Series: Marquette leads, 6-3

This series only got started in 1997, and most of the meetings were wrapped up by the time the two sides met up in December of 2010. There was a home-and-home series between these two back in 2023 and 2024, and each team won their home game in the set.

Illinois is coming off their second straight NCAA tournament appearance and the third in four seasons under the direction of head coach Shauna Green.

Belmont Bruins

2025-26 Record: 20-12, 16-4 Missouri Valley Conference
2025-26 Final BartTorvik.com Ranking: #115
All-Time Series: Marquette leads, 2-0

These two teams had a home-and-home series in 2019 and 2020, with Marquette winning by just two at home and just three on the road.

That #115 ranking for Belmont is their first sub-100 ranking in the Torvik era, which has existed since the 2020-21 season. It’s only the third time in the past six campaigns that the Bruins have been below #70 in the computer rankings, and honestly, had they just beaten #257 Evansville in the conference tournament, they wouldn’t even have been sub-110 last season.
