Kevin Stefanski comments on Falcons starting Tua Tagovailoa

The Atlanta Falcons have finally named a starting quarterback for their Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team will play veteran Tua Tagovailoa over Michael Penix Jr. at QB in Sunday's season opener.
Naturally, Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked about the QB1 decision at his Monday press conference.

"Tua will start," Stefanski confirmed. "Cooper Rush will be the backup. Mike Penix will be inactive. Really, really proud of those guys. And I told them this morning, I think those guys have worked like crazy all offseason. They've pushed each other and supported each other."
Stefanski was asked about Penix's status and whether or not Tua was the season-long starter.
"Mike is getting better and better and better," answered Stefanski. "I'm very proud of him for how far he's come. But this will continue to be something that we work together with Mike. We are all on the same page, which is great, between myself, Mike, medical."
The Falcons are rolling with Tagovailoa Week 1, but Stefanski did not make a definitive season-long announcement when asked if Penix would be in the mix for the QB1 job when he returns.
"I'm gonna really stay in Week 1," answered Stefanski. "I'm not going to speculate past that, I don't think it's fair to anyone at this point."
The Falcons and the Steelers will face off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
