Texas softball won't face rivals Oklahoma, Texas A&M in 2027 regular season

The SEC revealed its schedule for the 2027 season Wednesday, and Texas softball won't face off with bitter rival Oklahoma in the regular season for the first time since 2010.

The two rivals did not play in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Texas and Oklahoma, two of the preeminent powers in college softball, have competed in the same conference since Texas began its softball program in 1997. Both programs were part of the Big 12 until 2024, when both left for the SEC.
Oklahoma leads the all-time series 50-15. The two programs have combined to win the last six national championships.

The 24-game SEC schedule for the Longhorns also doesn't include rival Texas A&M. The conference slate begins March 12-14 with a home series against Florida before Texas hits the road for a March 19-21 series against Tennessee. Texas returns to McCombs Field to host Alabama on March 26-28.
The Longhorns will head to Arkansas for its second SEC road series April 2-4. Texas hosts Missouri at McCombs Field on April 9-11 and travels to LSU April 16-18. Following their SEC bye week on April 23-25, Texas returns to conference action by hosting Mississippi State April 30-May 2 at McCombs Field. Texas wraps up the regular season on the road at Auburn on May 6-8.

Game times, television assignments and the Longhorns' full 2027 schedule will be announced at a later date.
Texas has won back-to-back national championships and will enter the 2027 season as one of the favorites behind returners such as pitcher Teagan Kavan, infielder Katie Stewart and outfielder Kayden Henry as well as a touted transfer class led by Isa Torres.
