Atlanta Braves star slugger Matt Olson perfectly summed up Friday night’s wild 6-5 comeback win over the Philadelphia Phillies in 11 innings at Truist Park. The victory opened a crucial three-game NL East series and extended the Braves’ NL East divisional lead from four to five games.

Olson also contributed a first-inning solo homer before the Braves erased deficits in the ninth, 10th, and 11th innings. In an article published early Saturday morning on MLB’s official website, MLB.com’s Mark Bowman shared the first baseman’s postgame reaction to a memorable night in Atlanta.

“People got their money’s worth tonight,” the Braves first baseman said. “That’s for sure. That was a great game.”

The Phillies carried a 3-2 advantage into the ninth frame before Mike Yastrzemski singled with one out. Pinch-runner DaShawn Keirsey Jr. then raced home from first on Sean Murphy’s single and Derek Hill’s error, forcing extra innings.

Philadelphia regained the lead in the 10th when Justin Crawford singled home automatic runner Bryson Stott. The Braves answered as Mauricio Dubón’s sacrifice fly brought home pinch-runner Brewer Hicklen to make it 4-4.

The Phillies went back ahead in the 11th on Luis Arraez’s RBI single, but Atlanta delivered one final rally. Ha-Seong Kim singled to left off Brooks Raley, scoring Ozzie Albies and tying the game. Drake Baldwin followed with a two-out double to center, allowing Kim to race home from first with the winning run.

Earlier, Olson opened the scoring with his 38th homer of the season, while Austin Riley went deep in the seventh. Chris Sale also kept the Braves within striking distance, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out six across seven innings.

The comeback pushed the Braves to 87-61 and dropped Philadelphia to 82-66. Atlanta now owns a five-game NL East advantage over the Phillies entering Saturday’s second game at Truist Park.
