Lions missing two cornerbacks vs. Saints; see inactives here

DETROIT — The Detroit Lions will surprisingly be down two cornerbacks when the team faces the New Orleans Saints at Ford Field on Sunday, Sept. 13.

In addition to defensive back Christian Izien, who was questionable with a groin injury on Friday's injury report, the Lions also made cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. inactive in the opener.

Rakestraw was not added to the injury report at the last minute, indicating he was likely a healthy scratch. Rakestraw was thought of as one of the Lions' top reserves on the outside behind D.J. Reed and Rock Ya-Sin. Instead, the Lions will likely deploy Roger McCreary or Khalil Dorsey on the outside in a pinch.

The Lions also made defensive lineman Ahmed Hassanein, linebacker Jimmy Rolder and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo inactive. Hassanein and Wingo are the odd men out in a crowded defensive line room, while Rolder recently returned to practice after missing nearly all of training camp with a hamstring injury.

Detroit elevated defensive lineman Ben Stille to the gameday roster from the practice squad on Saturday.
