After pulling off a decisive victory in the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, life is beautiful for the Giants, head coach John Harbaugh and quarterback Jaxson Dart. The Los Angeles Rams, on the other hand, must be in a full-fledged panic after traveling to Australia and getting hammered in the opener by the San Francisco 49ers.

The Giants have the kind of leadership under Harbaugh that was deficient during former head coach Brian Daboll’s tenure. Harbaugh is an old-school head coach who wants to establish the running game and take heat off of Dart. Running back Cam Skattebo is a solid between the tackles runner who has the burst to get outside. He had 18 carries for 81 yards in the 28-20 triumph over the Cowboys.

A similar performance against the Rams will make life much easier for Dart, who completed 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards with 3 TDs. Nabers is the Giants’ big-play specialist on the outside while TE Isaiah Likely knows how to get open and is key target for Dart.

However, it’s one thing to be productive against the Cowboys. It will be quite another to do it against an angry Rams defense that could feature the return of Darnold.

The Rams may have struggled badly on offense against the 49ers, but Matthew Stafford has two of the best receivers in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. The running game features Kyren Williams and Blake Corum, and the Giants defense will struggle to keep all aspects of the Rams offense in check.

Sean McVay will have his team prepared for a much better effort in Week 2 than the Rams produced in their flukish loss to the Niners during their painful trip Down Under.

The Giants have a chance to have a respectable season, but they still have a long way to go. While Harbaugh understands the rhythms of the NFL and that it takes multiple weeks for a team to show improvement, their fans may not. Don’t expect Giants fans to be patient when they suffer key losses.

That will likely be the case in this game. The Rams are anxious to show that they will be the best team in the league this year and that hard-trying and improving teams like the Giants can’t stay with them for 60 minutes. Look for a huge bounce-back game by Stafford and the Rams take charge in the second half.
