\nThe Chiefs endured a miserable season last year, missing the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era, and fans and analysts disagreed over their chances of bouncing back in 2026.
\nHowever, New England Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski is more than enthusiastic about the Chiefs’ newfound hard edge.

\nDuring Wednesday’s segment of “Up & Adams,” Gronkowski gushed about the Chiefs’ Week 1 performance against the Broncos.
\n“It woke me up. I was like, by Kenneth Walker and the Kansas City Chiefs, just how they dominated the whole game,” Gronkowski said.
\n“And how they did it as well. As I said, the Chiefs were getting punched in the face all of last year. No one was scared of them. Well, guess what? They’re a scary team once again. They’re proving last year was a mistake. It was a down year for us.”
\nGronkowski, who won three of his four Super Bowl titles with the Patriots, praised the franchise for adding running back Kenneth Walker III to supplement Mahomes’ brilliance and fill a gap in the offense.
\n“And then they go out and get Kenneth Walker? A weapon that they never had in the running game throughout their mini dynasty that they had in the previous 10 seasons besides last year,” Gronkowski added.

\n“Kenneth Walker is just taking this team to a whole other level now, and the Kansas City Chiefs need a playmaker like Kenneth Walker. You need a playmaker that supports Patrick Mahomes. They had it with Travis Kelce in his prime.
\n“And yes, he’s still supportive, but not to the level that he was over the last 10 seasons. They had Tyreek Hill at times. They had other players that were supporting Mahomes.

\n“Now it’s at running back, and it’s Kenneth Walker, and he just took them to an absolute other level. And they’re playing smashmouth football, something that you really never see from the Chiefs. They’re punching people in the face.”
\nThe Chiefs averaged 106.6 rushing yards per game last season (No. 25 in the NFL). On Monday, the Chiefs outgained the Broncos 220 to 61 rushing yards.
\nAfter finishing 6-11 and losing Mahomes to an ACL tear last season, coach Andy Reid revamped his roster. The jewel of the team’s recruitment was, of course, Super Bowl LX MVP Walker, who distinguished himself as one of the league’s best running backs last season.
\nWalker had a dominant game against the Broncos, tallying 173 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 carries, adding 18 receiving yards and another score. Under returning offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, the Chiefs earned a PFN Offense Impact score of 78.4 (No. 12 in the NFL).
