The Philadelphia Eagles entered Sunday’s game with an offensive-line combination they never planned to use during the offseason. Cam Jurgens moved from center to left guard, while rookie Drew Kendall made his first start at center. The adjustment was necessary after Landon Dickerson was sidelined.

Philadelphia now must decide whether continuity outweighs returning players to their customary positions.
The new combination experienced uneven moments against Tennessee, particularly as the running game struggled to develop. The line held together when the Eagles needed their best possession, however. Jalen Hurts completed 6 of 8 passes for 61 yards during the nine-play, 65-yard winning drive. Philadelphia handled protection well enough for Hurts to work through his progressions and find Darius Cooper for the decisive touchdown.
Kendall’s ability to manage protections and snapping responsibilities allowed Jurgens to strengthen the left side beside Jordan Mailata. Fred Johnson and Willie Lampkin remain alternatives at left guard. The Eagles should use the extra day before Monday night to decide which lineup offers the best combination of communication, pass protection, and movement in the running game.
What began as an emergency solution may become Philadelphia’s preferred lineup until Dickerson returns.
