Jaxson Dart and Jayden Daniels’ injuries have already changed the outlook of the NFC East after two weeks of the 2026 NFL season.
Dart suffered a knee injury during the New York Giants’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and the issue is now considered more serious than initially believed. Daniels, meanwhile, dislocated his elbow during the Washington Commanders’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The latest developments leave the Giants and Commanders facing major uncertainty at quarterback while the Philadelphia Eagles and Cowboys enter the next week without comparable concerns.

But things changed dramatically Tuesday after further testing showed the injury was worse than first thought.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Dart and the Giants are facing the possibility of season-ending knee surgery.
Giants coach John Harbaugh confirmed that the team had learned more about Dart’s injury but said no final decision had been made. The Giants are still evaluating the quarterback before determining the next step.
Washington has its own quarterback problem. Daniels dislocated his elbow during the Commanders’ 37-20 loss to Dallas and will miss Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Marcus Mariota is expected to start while Daniels receives further evaluation. It remains to be seen if the Commanders will place Daniels in the IL, which will guarantee at least four-missed games.

The Eagles entered the season as defending NFC East champions. Philadelphia ended a 21-year stretch without a repeat division winner by taking the NFC East in both 2024 and 2025. The Eagles were the first team to repeat as division champions since Philadelphia itself won four straight from 2001 through 2004.

Eagles and Cowboys enter Week 3 without quarterback uncertainty
Philadelphia is 2-0 after defeating Washington and the Tennessee Titans to begin its title defense. Dallas is 1-1 after its 37-20 victory over Washington. Dak Prescott threw three touchdown passes in the win, and the Cowboys now head into Week 3 with Baltimore as their next opponent.
The Giants are scheduled to host the Titans on Sunday. Jameis Winston struggled after replacing Dart against Los Angeles, completing 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and one interception.
Washington will host the Seahawks and at 0-2, the Commanders are already dealing with both a poor start and uncertainty surrounding their starting quarterback.
With Dart’s injury potentially ending his season and Daniels unavailable for Week 3, the Eagles and Cowboys now enter Week 3 as overwhelming favorites to win the NFC East.
