During the loss, both starting cornerback Patrick Surtain II and ascending second-year wide receiver Pat Bryant sustained ankle injuries that were worrying news for the Broncos' offense and defense.

However, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Broncos got some good news on both Surtain and Bryant's injuries. As opposed to lengthy IR stints, it appears both have avoided major injuries.

Broncos avoid major injuries to Patrick Surtain, Pat Bryant

"The Broncos received some good news on both star CB Pat Surtain II and on WR Pat Bryant from their MRIs today, sources say," Rapoport reports. "They avoided worst-case scenario on both of their ankle injuries, and both absences are expected to be short-term."

This news from Rapoport is a huge sigh of relief for the Broncos. Obviously, losing Surtain or Bryant for even just one week is a tough blow. But the alternative could've been so much worse.

Instead of potentially having to place Surtain and Bryant on IR for at least four weeks, this report from Rapoport seems to indicate they both might not be out for long.

Surtain's absence will sting more, but the way Bryant's played, he's putting his name in contention to become the Broncos' WR2 behind Jaylen Waddle.

Both will be missed during their absence, though Rapoport's report indicates that it's not going to be for too long this season.

Denver will be without both for at least a week, and maybe two, but all things considered, this is an incredibly positive update for the Broncos, as they've seemingly avoided a serious long-term injury to Bryant and Surtain this season.
