Liverpool set their eyes on 'amazing' Premier League star

The transfer window may be shut at the moment but, that doesn't mean the rumour mill has stopped turning.
Liverpool have spent over £600 million on new players in two years and, it still feels like they need to improve certain areas of their squad.

At the moment, the Reds' midfield feels like their worst area on the pitch, especially now that Curtis Jones has exited.
Of course, Trey Nyoni has done a fairly decent job when called upon but, since he's still so young, he can't be playing two 90 minute matches every week.
So, this has led fans to demand new players and, even though midfield is clearly the area that Liverpool need to improve the most, their recruitment team seemingly doesn't think so.
That is, especially after the latest transfer news to emerge from Anfield.
Liverpool want to sign Murillo from Nottingham Forest again
Liverpool's defence was given a decent upgrade in the summer.
Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo were brought in with Kostas Tsimikas also making a return.
And, while Tsimikas is obviously a bit of a downgrade from Andy Robertson, the other two have helped shore Liverpool's defence up massively.
But, with so many of Liverpool's players still having their futures undecided with all of their contracts set to expire in June 2027, it's clear to see why so much change is being discussed.
At the moment, their defence doesn't need any new players but, since Joe Gomez, Tsimikas and Virgil van Dijk's contracts all expire in June, the depth among their back line could be cut in half.
This would obviously be far from ideal which is why the latest report from Football Insider about Liverpool's potential deal for Murillo should be something that excites fans.
"Liverpool and Chelsea have joined the race to sign Nottingham Forest star Murillo in 2027, sources have told Football Insider," they wrote.
"The 24-year-old has long been admired by the Premier League's top clubs, and there is a growing feeling they could move to lure him away from the City Ground after the turn of the year.
"Liverpool are seeking a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk, while Chelsea remain determined to bolster their squads, and both clubs could be ready to spend big.
"While his performances have attracted high-profile interest, and both Liverpool and Chelsea are keeping tabs on his situation, it will be a difficult deal to pull off."
Murillo would be a smart transfer for Liverpool
Although one of Liverpool's main problems at the moment is the lack of homegrown players among their ranks, there aren't all that many players for them to sign.
Of course, your usual suspects such as Adam Wharton and Alex Scott have been linked with Liverpool but, if they want to get back to their best and start challenging for trophies again, they're going to need to add some top-level talent to their ranks.
Murillo, who has been described as an "excellent" player in the past would be perfect.
He's a tad older than Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni but, he already has an abundance of Premier League experience under his belt.
The Brazilian also plays in a back three under Oliver Glasner so, no matter which side he's used on, he'll be able to meet expectations.
