WASHINGTON - MARCH 20: Gerald Henderson #15 of the Duke Blue Devils drives to score the game winning shot against Matthew Dotson #30 and Justin Hare#24 of the Belmont Bruins during the first round of the West Regional as part of the 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament at the Verizon Center on March 20, 2008 in Washington, DC. Somehow, in 2008, we missed this classic.

After Duke barely survived Belmont, 71-70, Triangle TV station NBC-17 had a bit of a quandary: the NCAA would not allow it to show video while there were still games in progress.

So the reporter in this video borrowed some of his daughter’s dolls and just re-enacted some highlights.

It’s pretty hilarious.

He starts with a shot by Belmont’s Alex Renfroe. In one play, he drives by a doll version of Brian Zoubek, who is wearing a mask, apparently like in a horror movie.

He has a frog represent Gerald Henderson, who drives through the entire defense for a finger roll with just 13 seconds left.

Why a frog?

Because Henderson had hops. After the big play, he ribbited – the frog Henderson, not the real one. Henderson scored 21 points to pace Duke to a very tight win.

Unfortunately, in the second game that opening weekend, West Virginia just pounded the Blue Devils, winning a very physical game, 73-67.

As far as we know, there was no theatrical interpretation of that one.
