Ligue 1 Predictions, Round 6
GFFN editor-in-chief Luke Entwistle, and sub-editor Bastien Cheval face off in our Ligue 1 predictions competition, which returns for the 2026/27 campaign. This season, GFFN will also be hosting guests. It’s three points for a correct score, two points for a correct score difference, and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Game of the week: RC Lens v Olympique Lyonnais, Friday 19:45 (UK)
Form is out the window following what was an extended international break. It almost feels like the start to a new season and that will be acutely felt by RC Lens in particular. Just before the international break, they opted for a managerial change, with Yannick Cahuzac promoted from his role of assistant to replace Dino Toppmoller. Cahuzac had very little time to work with his squad before their trip to AS Monaco just before the international break.
He will hope that his principles are taking hold, and Lens will be buoyed by the returns of Yacine Titraoui and Saud Abdulhamid, although the former is not expected to start on his return from a muscular injury. It will be a fresh start after what had been a difficult first few weeks of the season.
In contrast, Olympique Lyonnais are riding high. Just two points off Ligue 1 leaders AS Monaco, they went into the international break off the back of a 4-0 win over Stade Rennais, who are tipped to secure UEFA Champions League football this season. It is a result that did a lot to dispel the growing notion that Paulo Fonseca is not a manager for the big matches, the big occasions. He can further dispel that notion at the Stade Bollaert, although it is always a difficult place to go. It being Cahuzac’s home debut as manager only adds further complication.
