Daniele Longo of Calciomercatoreports that the Milanese club are eager to acquire the Swedish international as they view the 23-year-old midfielder as the ideal profile to provide longevity for the future of the Milan project, given Luka Modric is 41 years-old and will undoubtedly be needing a successor very shortly.
Despite the English outfits seeking a price tag between €60m-€70m for the rising star, Ayari’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027, which could ultimately play in the favour in Milan as they could acquire the Swedish international’s services for a significant discount in the winter market, or even on a free transfer at the end of the 2026-27 campaign.
So far this season, Ayari hit ground-breaking form early on as he amassed one goal and an assist within four matches played in the Premier League. In addition, the 23-year-old heavily impressed at the World Cup this summer, scoring a brace in Sweden’s 5-1 victory over Tunisia.
Ayari is indeed a profile that has caught the eye of the Serie A giants given his ability to play in between the lines with superb dynamism and technical skill and his versatility to play as a deep-lying play-maker and as an attacking midfielder suits coach Ruben Amroim’s philosophy very well.
Hence, Milan continue to observe the situation very closely as it remains to be seen if Ayari will prolong his contract with Brighton or decide to part ways in order to begin a new adventure.
