Veteran quarterback reportedly refused to sign with Eagles
· Yahoo Sports
The Philadelphia Eagles have been scrambling at quarterback ever since Jalen Hurts landed on injured reserve with a blood clot, and Sunday’s 25-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers only added to the urgency. However, there is one longtime NFL quarterback who seemingly has no interest in offering his asstance.

Veteran quarterback Andy Dalton was released by the Eagles released earlier this month. Now, following Hurts’ injury, the team reportedly wanted to bring him back. However, he’s not interested.
Hurts Out Indefinitely
The Eagles placed Hurts on injured reserve Saturday due to a superficial blood clot in his calf, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The move sidelines the three-time Pro Bowler indefinitely.
At minimum, Hurts will miss games against the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and New York Giants before Philadelphia’s Week 10 bye. But there’s a chance he could be out for longer than that, as well.
With Hurts sidelined, Tanner McKee got the start in his place Sunday and went 26-of-45 for 215 yards and a touchdown as the Eagles fell to 2-4 with the loss, marking their fourth straight loss after a 2-0 start.
Behind McKee, Philadelphia has rookie Cole Payton and Joe Milton, who was signed off the Cowboys’ practice squad last week.
‘Politely declined’
Dalton opened the season as Hurts’ backup after a summer-long competition with McKee. But he was demoted after Week 3 and released on Oct. 9, ahead of the Eagles’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.
Now, with Hurts out, the Eagles reportedly wanted him back. Unfortunately for the team, it sounds like Dalton had no interest in returning.
“They wanted to bring him back, but Dalton has politely declined, we’re told,” Mike Florio wrote, via Pro Football Talk.
Florio added that Dalton “will be signing with a team other than the Eagles as soon as tomorrow.” He also noted that Dalton’s arrival will likely push a current member of that team’s quarterback room out the door.
“Which would then, frankly, make that player a potential option for the Eagles,” Florio wrote.
Dalton, a 16-year veteran with 169 career starts, has played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Cowboys, Bears, New Orleans Saints, Panthers, and Eagles.
It’s not a great sign when a quarterback you just cut doesn’t want to come back. For now, the Eagles will have to keep searching for help.
