The midfielder was asked whether Kane’s miss from the penalty spot surprised him more than Dortmund playing with a four-man defensive formation.
“I’d say Harry missing the penalty. We were just talking about that. His conversion rate is incredible. At some point, he’s bound to miss one. I’m sure there will be more important penalties coming up, and he‘ll score them again,” answered Kimmich (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Ballon d’Or jinx ?
Harry Kane has a formidable penalty record, having scored 113 goals from the spot and missed just 16 in all competitions. This miss, however, has come at a critical and ironic time. Kane was just crowned with the Ballon d’Or this week, and Der Klassiker was the upcoming high-profile fixture for him and Bayern.
Although he provided a great assist, Kane was unlucky when another shot in the second half ricocheted off the crossbar, denying him the chance to make up for the miss and score Bayern’s third and winning goal.
