Gabby Williams has become a WNBA superstar this year. Very few players have ascended as quickly as she has. The Golden State Valkyries acquired her in 2026, and in just her first season, she has become a champion and been named as the Finals MVP.
Williams averaged 19.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.6 steals per game in seven games of the Finals. She saved her best performance for last, too, racking up 30 points, four blocks, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the 68-63 win. Naturally, fans were in awe of her abilities.
WNBA fans think Gabby Williams is now among the league’s best and better than Angel Reese
Williams is a bit older than the young crop of superstars currently popular in the league. The likes of Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, and Paige Bueckers have some of the largest fan-followings in the sport. However, Gabby has now officially made her mark.
Following her big game in the deciding clash, the online discourse around the French-American star shows just how much respect she has gained this year.
“When the moment arose, she knew it was her time. This is what true superstars do in times of need,” one fan observed. “She is now officially a Top 3 player in the league to me, do debate a wall,” a second fan claimed. “A true MVP. Should have gotten it for regular season too,” another fan said.
“Man, what a takeover in the 2nd half. Gabby was supernatural. She’s among the league’s best,” a fourth fan wrote. “Way better than Angel Reese, and Caitlin Clark, and all those girls,” a different comment read. “Gabby one of the best in the WNBA. She is Top 5 and she proved it,” wrote a sixth fan.
Williams will have a lot of eyes on her next season after she led her team to a championship. The expectations that come with it will be the next challenge of her career. Based on how she showed up in Game 7, it’s easy to imagine that she’ll be able to handle it just fine.
