A Bears victory on Sunday could push Caleb Williams into the MVP conversation. That number trails Josh Allen, Brock Purdy, and Joe Burrow, but the gap is closing fast. Since Williams came back from a hamstring injury that sidelined him during Weeks 3 through 5, the Bears have claimed three consecutive victories. Chicago has not trailed in any of those three contests and has scored more than 30 points each time.

Williams has fixed the biggest issue from his rookie year. His completion percentage has jumped from 58.1 percent in 2025 to 70.9 percent this season. Yahoo Sports noted that only Joe Burrow holds a higher rate in the entire league. At Halas Hall on Wednesday, Coach Ben Johnson informed reporters that the passing operation feels much smoother. “I think our passing game in general has been a little bit cleaner,” Johnson said. Enhanced timing and confidence linking the quarterback with his leading trio of receivers fuel this progress.

The Chemistry Is Real

The connection between Williams and his targets has deepened beyond the field. The group spends significant time together to build that bond. Williams explained that the communication grew because they share meals and hang out. “We hang out together. We do things together. We eat together, break bread together,” Williams said. Luther Burden III showed this grit against Seattle by catching a 1-yard touchdown to end an 8-minute, 32-second opening drive. Before the catch, Burden told Williams he did not fear the defending Super Bowl champions. “I went up to him and told him I don’t care who they is,” the wide receiver said. Williams stood up from the bench and yelled back, “I don’t give a f— who they are!”

Blocking Wins Games Too

The offense also relies on the receivers to do the dirty work. Rome Odunze is the key player in this new dynamic. He cleared a path for a 39-yard screen pass against Seattle that sealed the win. Kalif Raymond ran through the tunnel because Odunze made the block. “If [Odunze] doesn’t get that block, the screen doesn’t go,” Raymond said. With 14 receptions totaling 234 yards in each half, Odunze is heading toward his finest campaign in three years. On Sunday, Nov. 8, at 8:20 p.m. ET, they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Soldier Field. TSN noted that Tampa Bay yields just 18.9 points per game, which is the fifth-best mark in the league.
