Defensive lineman Derrick Brown was limited during Sunday's session of training camp. The Pro Bowl defender was seen working off to the side with trainers this morning, which isn't the best sign given the team's misfortune on the injury front this summer.

Head coach Dave Canales, however, provided an encouraging outlook on Brown after practice.

"He's got some knee soreness," Canales told reporters. "We sat him out on Tuesday to see if we can get him to rebound. It's still pretty sore. So I don't wanna put him back out with the full group until he feels ready to go back in there.

"He had a great session on the grass today. Ran around, did some stuff inside. So, he's trending in the right direction with the guys. We'll just keep tabs on that on when we can roll him back into practice."

Carolina has already lost starting outside linebacker Nic Scourton, who tore his ACL in the opening session of camp, for the upcoming season. They'll also be without rookie wide receiver Chris Brazzell II, who tore his LCL.

Knee soreness may sound a bit concerning for Brown, who sustained a season-ending meniscus injury in Week 1 of the 2024 campaign. He'd return for a strong 2025, where he posted a career-high 5.0 sacks.
